An extremely fresh nose offers up notes of both red and dark currant

The palate is very charming and superbly vinous

This is noticeably riper with an expressive nose of blue berry fruit cut with notes of violets and warm earth that carries over to the very round and smooth flavors that possess good volume as well as a punch and mouth coating finish where an attractive trace of minerality surfaces

Honeyed and round on the juicy palate

The tannins are ultra fine here

when many young Ports are exuberant

Juxtaposed against the 1996 Haut-Batailley I find more energy in this
