Etienne Sauzet, Puligny Montrachet Hameau Blagny(from 60+ year old vines). A slightly riper nose reflects aromas of white peach, citrus confit and a pretty array of floral elements. The round and fleshy but agreeably punchy medium bodied flavors also possess a gorgeous mouthfeel thanks to the abundant dry extract that completely buffers the moderately firm citrus tinged acid spine shaping the sneaky long finale. This isnt quite as tautly wound but it should still repay up to a decade of keeping.

The delicious and energetic middle weight flavors possess plenty of minerality and solid midpalate density before culminating on the lingering finish that also displays a trace of dryness

with a base of granular tannins buoying the cherry

A qualitative choice but note that these are two very different wines

The wine comes to an explosive finale with a never-ending finish

cinnamon and black tea aromas leading the way for a fleshy core of raspberry pâte de fruit

and textured

This is also openly floral with hints of herbal tea adding breadth to the intensely earthy and brooding nose of mostly dark berry fruit aromas

and masculine as well as aromatic (a characteristic of this cool vintage)

Last year from barrel this was restrained to the point of being almost mute but that is no longer the case as the nose is now overtly expressive with very ripe and again borderline exotic aromas of yellow orchard fruit along with the more classic scents of citrus

This is an icon wine of the appellation

It is certainly less opulently gregarious than bottles tasted within the first decade of its life
