Rare Antique Japanese Military Battleship Katori Machinery Division Navy Sake Cup - Yokoyama collection 3This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, one of a collection of cups from the same person. The cup is decorated with a naval insignia. The words on the back are of the cup are "Gift to Mr. Yokoyama" and "Members of the same year sailors of the Machinery Division of the Warship Katori". This is most likely the first Katori the battleship that was decommissioned in 1923. I have a number of cups that were intended for this same Yokoyama person from

The sailor's name Honda is on the back

and a cherry blossom

The smaller flags include one for Manchukuo

The colors of the flag have somehow become metallic looking due to age

The horse's head suggests this is for a transport or cavalry soldier

Condition: Excellent - light fading of the gold

The words are "Term Fulfillment Commemoration" and on the back "16th Transport Battalion"

with the big words "7th Division Soldier Comfort Department" and top right "This comfort item is made and gifted by the Shima civilian soldier support group"

The words are "Discharge Commemoration" "2nd Railroad Regiment"

The words under the tower are "North China Patrol Commemoration" and on the ribbon "14th Destroyer Squadron" - quite possibly a reference to the initial attack on China in 1937 when it was referred to as the "North China Incident"
