SOLD.....A lawn skein / ribbon holder. Antique craft work. c 1830Found in the bottom of an old workbox, this skein holder was hand made using a fine lawn handkerchief with its lace trim circa 1830. It is divided into four compartments and has pieces of card wrapped with ribbons and threads. The sections are divided by feather stitch in green silk. Most likely a gift to the original owner of the box. c1830. 28 x 8cm unfolded 7 x 8cm folded.. In excellent condition no damage other than to the ribbon ties of which

It is made up of various native woods set in a geometric pattern

The tools are a dip pen

The interior is also decorated with strips of straw and the base covered by blue paper

In excellent condition except for the loss of the bottom cap on one of the white metal needle cases
