This is ripe to the point of displaying background notes of prune on the plum and earth scented nose that lacks the same freshness. There is better freshness to the delicious medium weight flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the borderline chewy finish. This may come together but its awkward and a bit heavy today.

This is a wine to watch as it ages because while it has the stuffing to reward 6 to 10 years of cellaring

it’s almost a blend of the Chaumes and Rognets with its layered ripe black fruit aromas and massive

tannic and austere vintages from this estate

it is evident that the old vines bring with them a certain gravitas of tannin

aged Riesling
