Savart, Expression Brut NatureThe 2018 Brut Nature Expression is a blend of five old vine Pinot Noir parcels in Ecueil, all bottled in magnum. Tightly wound and quite reticent, the 2018 is rather different from the other wines in this range, the warm vintage notwithstanding. I imagine the magnum format also helps. More importantly, readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is nowhere near ready to drink. Bright acids run through a core of intense Pinot fruit on this

The wine offers soft textures and a light

Here too the more expressive nose is cool and airy with its spicy combination of red cherry

this is at its peak

Instantly impressive in the glass

This excellent effort is very Vosne in basic character and highly recommended

18 ha parcel of 20+ year old vines and fermented like the Clos de Vougeot)

but this shows structure

The blend is 90% Tempranillo with the balance Graciano and Carinena aged in new oak for 18 months

In a vintage where so many wines already appear tired

It's probably not fair to taste another wine after the 2013 Langhe Nebbiolo
