This is most likely the first Katori - the battleship that was decommissioned in 1923

backed with two crossed rifled-shaped practice bayonets

The maker's mark for Shobido is on the back

and ships on the top and bottom

This is a very rare antique Japanese military sake cup

Condition: Excellent - some fading of the gold

The words are "Discharge Commemoration" "9th Transport"

It's exceedingly rare to have cups commemorating any action in Hainan island - and the ones I've seen almost always use indigenous materials like coconut

The exterior of the cup is in the shape of a helmet with the character "ten thousand" as the base - this is the first word of the phrase "Banzai"

The guy has a Order of Rising Sun 6th class and what looks like perhaps the Boxer Rebellion or Russo Japanese war medal
