It is very well marked below the crossguard with NXSO 17249 on one side and USN Mk1 on the other. This training blade is made of bakelite plastic, and the blade slot is broken in this example. These bayonets are fragile and could not stand up to rigorous use, so they are commonly broken in spots. These bayonets were designed for use with the U. S. Navy Mark 1
