A Georgian silver tape measure. c1830An attractive silver tape measure with an almost complete original, printed blue silk ribbon. English c1830. This one will sit upright in a compartment in a sewing box and would have matched a set of silver topped reels. 2cm high including the little knob on top. Diameter of base just under 2cm. Diameter of the top 2. 5cm. In excellent condition no damage and the tape winds in and out freely. It has lost 1 inch from the start of the ribbon but the

In excellent condition-no damage but there is a natural flaw in the pearl on one corner

The pattern includes flowers and shells-a strange mix but typical of the period

The panels are a brick red colour with sparkles which catch the light

seal and letter opener plus a pair of ink wells

Condition-The finger ring on one handle is distorted and partially split but isn't in danger of breaking

A pair of large paste set Georgian shoe buckles

They are stamped 'Elite' by the blade rivet which is a trade mark of Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield

The blades are in good condition and cut

This example has the usual wriggle work decoration of the period and a facetted rim

The reverse is more simply decorated with two stylised flower heads

A wooden thread barrel from an early Georgian workbox in the style known as Painted Tunbridge Ware which predates the better known inlaid work of Victorian times
