Clos CantenacThe 2017 Clos Cantenac was picked before the rainfall in early September though, two parcels suffered some frost damage that needed to be carefully sorted out. It is aged in around 40% new oak with a slightly lighter toast than previous vintages. It offers tightly wound blackberry and raspberry coulis aromas, a touch of decayed leaves and smoky scents coming through with aeration. The palate is medium bodied with grippy tannin, lightly spiced black

slight earthiness on the entry and truffle and black pepper toward the lightly spiced finish

Deep purple-black in color

lingering with savory elements of tobacco and mineral

perhaps 5 more years in the bottle should allow the wine to soften and develop its aromatics
