PoujeauxThis well known estate is now owned by Clos Fourtets Philippe Cuvelier, but the estate was owned by Jean Theil when the 2005 was conceived. This 2005 reveals a beautiful black cherry and cassis scented nose, with a touch of spring flowers, medium to full body, and supple tannin in a sexy, lush, heady style. A sleeper of the vintage, it is already approachable and satisfying, and can be drunk over the next 10 15 years.

This robust effort is borderline strict at present and will require plenty of age to soften the tannins

Interestingly this is bigger and more powerful than the La Vigne au Saint but it’s not necessarily more structured
