This is a columnar branching species from a small island off the coast of Socotra. The most distinctive feature is the gray coating on the stems (brown on new growth) that looks like candle wax or elephant skin! Please note: This cultivar is highly variable in terms of variegation

The spines are so tiny as to make is effectively spineless

so it is still pretty rare in people's collections

and some will be all orange-yellow

pinguicula but leaves are longer when young
