A pair of Regency silver handled scissors. c1825An attractive pair of silver handled scissors embossed with birds and foliage and with a silver blade cover. c1825. The silver is in good condition with no damage or repair but, as the tips of the blades cross a tiny bit, they won't cut cleanly. Just over 10cm in length (4 inches) Finger ring span 5cm Stock no. An unusual item
The hinged one has a piece of sprung glass in the lid which is the stopper whilst the screw lid has a piece of cork and this section was for smelling salts

There are two spikes on to the frame opposite the chape rather than the usual pitchfork shaped prongs
It would have been a souvenir probably from the Brighton area
It is excellent quality with thick gilding and with no damage to the beads or mount
