Afghan Ushak

Afghan UshakNamed for their place of origin, Oushak rugs were first woven in the small town of Oushak in west central Anatolia. Since the 15th century, Oushak has been the production centre of Turkish rugs, home to the famous Ottoman manufacturers.

While most weavers vary this trademark style slightly according to their own artistry – sometimes including a central medallion and corner pieces (as in the rug below) - the core design remains much the same
