The sarcophagus is decorated in enamel in the classic Egyptian colours lapis blue, turquoise, white, and carnelian red and hinged at the feet, opening to reveal a mummy inside. The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 sparked a fresh wave of Egyptomania in Europe and the USA, with Egyptian themes both directly and indirectly

The stone is marvellous: a six-pointed star shimmers and dances around the surface as the light moves across it
