Coastline TemperOregon Coast, Oregon This photograph was made at an iconic stretch of the Oregon coast after weeks of dense fog and overcast skies. I had come looking for color, for sunrise and sunset light that turns the land vivid and brief. Instead, day after day, the coast stayed closed in. No breaks. No warmth. Just heavy air and a restless sea. Eventually, frustration turned into acceptance, and then into curiosity. I stopped waiting for the conditions I wanted

large sections remain broad and understated

using it as a foreground anchor against the depth of the canyon

The foreground cactus and blooms were photographed shortly after sunset using a high aperture to maintain detail and depth while preserving the natural structure of the partially closed flowers

and deep river canyons

then revealed through erosion

Historic adobe structures scattered across the region speak to earlier attempts to live and work in this landscape
