WT #100, Hollow Form VesselHollow Form Vessel from Utah Juniper with Malachite, Red Coral, and Coal inlay, 10. 5 diameter x 8. 125 tall with 2. 125 opening, buffed CA finish. This is one of my favorite pieces. I collected the wood on the Uncompahgre Plateau from a truly ancient tree that was likely over a thousand years old. It was dead having fallen over probably over 100 years ago. Much of the main trunk (almost 4 foot diameter) and several of the major root branches

This bison was an extremely old bull as can be determined by the seams on the skull being completely closed up
The channels that carpenter ants had cut in this tree make for wonderful inlay patterns and the turquoise goes so well with the rich colors produced by the spalting process in the wood
Finished with CA and buffed to 50
The tray has 51 semiprecious mineral cabochons inlaid around the perimeter
finished with walnut oil to 50
