LascombesFar less impressive after bottling than it was from cask, this wine is now a candidate for drying out given its hollow middle and hard, austere, angular finish. The color is medium ruby, the wine has moderate weight and sweet fruit in the nose and on the attack, but it closes down to reveal a tart, spartan personality. Anticipated maturity, 2000 2008. Neither the 1995 nor 1996 performed as well as they had in the past, both suffering from hard tannin,

with intense black and blue fruit flavors and a touch of candied violet

leather and herbal tea

I have always had a weakness for Roberto Voerzio's 2000 Barolo Cerequio

Interestingly this is less overtly spicy as the Amoureuses at present though there is a genuinely gorgeous inner mouth perfume to the suave

indeed the word Zen describes the gorgeously well-balanced finish

Note that this has already begun to shut down and while the future is indisputably bright it’s clear that this is going to require a very long snooze in a cool cellar

There is excellent richness to the concentrated and beautifully textured broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power and a subtle minerality that really comes up on the youthfully austere and strikingly long finish

they destemmed all the grapes

Sweet and expansive on the gently tannic finish

and 6% Merlot really tastes and feels great

it reveals scents of bell pepper

spice and earth scents where the wood treatment is admirably subtle if again not invisible
