Its design combines religious symbolism with brutalist modernism

its dark concrete façade and gridded windows gave it a stark authority among the surrounding post-war developments

I worked to make sure the miniature kept the sculptural gravity that defines the building

the deep shadow lines which each had to work together at a reduced scale

It deserved to last

I wanted to capture that balance—the simple form

carrying a piece of Birmingham’s lost Brutalism and icon architecture into the present
