Ferberite

FerberiteThis was one of the very few multi twinned pieces from the find of these amazing specimens in June of 2010. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This beautiful piece features a few sharp, highly lustrous, jet black blades of Ferberite which are twinned along the a {100} face. It is not a simple twin consisting

so this it must be handled with care

these are undoubtedly the world's finest Andorites extant

Good quality

The mine at Porco is THE oldest and most significant Silver mine in Bolivia

especially since it was one of the few Leadville mines to produce Rhodochrosite

The Siderite from this mine ranges in its chemistry from the far iron end to an iron/manganese mix

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that one side has near full coverage of Rhodochrosite

gemmy Quartz crystal matrix

I remember a handful of golden Danburites that came out of Dalnegorsk

Here we have a good quality Boracite specimen from find the 2009 find in Bolivia

This specimen has the look of classic pegmatitic Cassiterites

they are newly mined specimens from this well-known locality
