Faceted Yb:YAG Gemstones, Light Blue Fantasy Cut Laser GarnetsThese are faceted light blue ytterbium YAG, a type of blue laser garnet. The color varies from light greyish blue to more saturated blue green. Yb: YAG is an uncommon type of YAG, grown for use in some infrared lasers including ones used for high power engraving. While it is used in a variety of infrared laser systems it is surprisingly hard to actually get as industrial scrap this is because the material is usually annealed immediately after growth,

5 so it is not a good stone for rings but makes incredible pendants

Note this stone does have some scratches

The Ahura FirstDefender is a raman spectrometer which was originally designed for use by the military

you can call this LLL (long luminescence lumogarnet)

I cut it to commemorate the final release of Look Outside which I worked on

Like normal cerium-doped YAG it has a vivid yellow base color and ultra strong fluorescence

This is easily one of my favorite gems

Personally

The description of the shadow crystals is pretty vague

This material sometimes appears at the edge of crystals where the concentration of titanium gets too high for the crystal to grow happily

Dichroic moissanite:  This stone is blue through the sides and golden yellow down the length--once cut the golden color will be much lighter as it currently has a dark cap on the end

more brilliance and fire and a cooler range of colors than diamonds do and I just find it more appealing visually
