Victorian Bloodstone Locket

Victorian Bloodstone LocketCool antique locket dating from the mid Victorian period, circa 1870. The rectangular frame is crafted in 15 carat gold, and furnished with two slabs of agate cut with bevelled edges: bloodstone and carnelian. Historically, carnelian and bloodstone agates have been regarded as healing stones, with bloodstone being used to combat blood disorders and stop bleeding. The intaglio is reverse carved allowing an imprint to be made in wax

ash and oakmoss hues permeate through the rust coloured stones
