A Painted Tunbridge Ware pin cushion clamp. c1800A wooden pin cushion clamp painted with stripes in the style of early 19th century 'Painted Tunbridge Ware'. The urn shaped pin cushion has a small green label printed with the words 'A Present from Brighton'. The brown silk covered cushion is the original. Condition there are no cracks or repairs but there is a small round flaw filled with varnish and another much smaller one on the opposite side of the urn. Probably a natural flaw in the wood which

In good condition- no damage other than a couple of moth holes on the sole

The silks are in excellent condition with no holes and the threads are firm

Three small Tunbridge Ware boxes that sit inside each other just like a Russian doll

There are also four of children- three of boys one in a naval costume

I suspect they would all have looked the same originally and the pattern has worn off through use

A sterling silver case sprung loaded to take sovereigns

Inside there is a glass inkwell with a sprung cover

A 19th century carved needle case opening at one end for needles and bodkins

The piece is decorated with a central spray of flowers surrounded by arabesques of stylised leaves with all the silver surfaces being worked in some way
