This mine is still active today and bears the unique distinction of producing the only GEM quality (facet grade) Cassiterites from any mine in Bolivia. Considering the millions of tons of tin ore that Bolivia has yielded, the fact that only one mine ever produced transparent
which is not common from this locality
and due to newly imposed circumstances regarding the removal of specimens from the mine
I have to say up front that this piece simply is better than the photos indicate

This specimen hosts several good quality Tetrahedrite crystals measuring up to 6 mm with great luster
I kept it as a memento of those early years visiting Bolivia
but it is still a worthwhile specimen
and not terribly attractive
