Antique Lava Cameo pendant, 9ct gold, Grand TourA beautiful antique, late 19th century Lava Cameo pendant. It has a dark grey ashy tone, finely carved with the profile of a classical lady. Lava Cameos and Lava stone jewellery rose to fashion in the Grand Tour era, early 19th century. They continued to be a popular choice until later in the 19th century. Made in Italy from Lava Ash and rock sculpted and carved into fine figures and set into jewellery for those on their grand tour travels to purchase
