Fernand & Laurent Pillot, Meursault CailleretsRiper and ever so vaguely exotic notes include those of white peach, cool floral, pear and citrus on the nicely spicy nose that are trimmed in moderate wood. Unusually, there is a hint of quinine on the beautifully delineated and stony medium weight flavors that culminate in a citrusy, clean, markedly dry and mildly austere finale. This beautifully delineated effort is clearly built to age and is going to need at least 4 to 6 years of patience first.

As it typically the case this is more aromatically refined than the Chassagne with its pure scents of acacia blossom

This chiseled effort is also excellent for its level and note that a few years of cellaring should help to add some needed depth

which isn’t necessarily an inconvenience as the cellar time should help the wood treatment better integrate

It’s rare for Macherelles to achieve this level of quality – color me impressed
