SOLD……A pearl tape measure in the form of a bandstand. c 1840An attractive carved pearl tape measure with gilt 'beaded' columns between the top and base. The yellow silk tape is printed in inches and is complete. c1840 Height 2cm 0. 75 inch Diameter 2. 5cm Just under an inch. In excellent condition. Stock no. KC23b

It is of a type known as Painted Tunbridge Ware which pre-dates the more recognisable Inlaid Tunbridge Ware

In excellent condition with age related dings as is usual but as it is of a good gauge of silver these are only slight

They are squatter than usual at 3cm in height

The back is tooled but with no embroidery

An oblong snuff box with rounded corners and hinged lid made from the stripped bark of birch trees

The steel tongues are identical but the chape on one is slightly off centre ( see last photo )
