Luigi Bosca, ParaisoThe new top of the range (they call it "icon") 2019 Paraiso was produced with a blend of Malbec and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon that I found too ripe and with aromas of peat, dark fruit, earth and shoe polish with an animal whiff. It's big (15% alcohol), ripe, round and lush. It matured in new and used barrels for 12 to 14 months. It's quite oaky. 10,000 bottles.

This sweeps across the palate with velvety textures

hints of candle wax emerging with time

satiny texture with flavors of crushed black cherry

There is fine volume to the appealingly textured middleweight flavors thanks mainly to the relatively fine-grained tannins that also shape the moderately firm and more complex finale that is just a bit firmer

This is not especially refined but it is delicious and a wine that should be approachable young
