Antique scarab beetle pendant, 9ct gold, CharmA beautiful antique Victorian scarab beetle drop pendant. It has a 9ct yellow gold closed back setting and houses a real iridescent green scarab beetle set into the beaded gold claw setting. It has a small gold jump ring attached so would work on a finer chain as is or could swap the bale out for a larger chain, looks great as part of a neckmess set up too. Such a pretty antique pendant with an unusual design

It is marked on the bale 9ct

commonly used in the Victorian era as a Whitby Jet substitute but highly collectable now in its own right

To the verso the brooch has an enclosed lock of tightly woven black brown hair under glazing

43 ct of diamonds in total and they give the most wonderful light to the face of the moon

they do not appear to have held stones though they may have small stones added if desired

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener with an added safety chain

It has a large silver bale to the top
